If you are into interiors as much as I am, and read interior design magazines, then you have most likely come across the term 'Hygge' (pronounced "Hooga"). Hygge is a Danish word, which roughly translates as 'cosiness'. It is also about enjoying the simple things. To the Danish it has become a way of life- as the Winter days are long, cold and dark, they created Hygge to introduce a little happiness into an otherwise dull day. To some, Hygge might mean snuggling up on the sofa with a mug of hot chocolate or a steaming cup of tea and immersing yourself in a good book. To others it could be curled up in a warm bed with candles lit and listening to the rain outside. It may even be something as simple as lighting a log fire and warming yourself by it in the evenings, or enjoying some jazz at home with friends and a glass of wine.
