| DIY | A Rather Crafty Christmas

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love  doing crafts. Christmas is such a good time of year to put your skills to use (and save a few pennies!) whilst having fun at the same time! I really enjoy being able to put my own stamp on something and give Christmas my own personal touch- plus it gets me in the festive mood if I stick a Christmas film on while I'm getting crafty! The first thing I always make during the festive period is orange pomanders. I adore the citrus and spicy smell of oranges and cloves combined. It's a cheap and natural way to scent a room for Christmas, and you can decorate them as you wish to put on display! I have a gold plate which I dig out every year, and I usually pop a church candle in the middle and add pine cones too. This makes a fantastic centrepiece on the dining table. To do these you will need:  4/5 large oranges (depending on the size of your plate) 1/2 pots of whole cloves Optional- pinecones, evergreen foliage, candle S...

| DIY | Homemade Bedside Lights

The new room is coming together really well. Everything I had envisioned for it has turned out exactly right! One thing that I’m most happy with is our brand new shelf/bedside lighting. This was all done for well under £100. I was lucky enough to already have the wooden scaffolding board for my old kitchen shelf. My dad helped me to distress it as it was a brand new piece of wood. Click here to read about that process. In the new room, our bed is pushed up against the chimney breast which obviously juts out a bit compared to the rest of the wall on that side. When considering the space we had I realised that a bedside table either side of the bed just wouldn’t work. This then raised the question…where do we put bedside lamps? I’ve seen a few pictures floating around the internet showing large filament Edison bulbs hanging from either the ceiling or the wall either side of a bed. I loved the look as I’m a big fan of Industrial-looking interiors. This seemed like a l...

| DIY | DIY Rustic Shelf

We've always needed more storage space in the kitchen. We have around 4 cupboards which we use for our appliances, cups/glasses/plates/bowls, tinned food and cereals, and a cupboard designated for general items we have no where to keep such as vases, tins of paint, dusters etc.  We had a largish amount of blank wall that I knew I wanted to do something with, but other things in the flat always took precedence.  Thanks to Instagram and Pinterest, I noticed that a lot of people were making shelves out of old bits of wood or scaffolding boards. Purely by chance a while ago, my other half was given 2 scaffolding boards by someone who had no use for them. Finally during some much needed annual leave, I pestered my Dad to help me with my project! I couldn't decide what brackets I wanted. I didn't want modern style brackets as that isn't really the "vibe" I go for. I was torn between antique-style cast iron brackets from Amazon , or some white distresse...

| DIY | A Thrifty Weekend Post!

As mentioned on my Instagram (if you don't follow me already, it's Eves & Moon ), I mentioned that this frame and prints were all completely free! There was nothing to it, and here's how you can do it too.  First off, if you weren't aware, if you sign up to IKEA Family (a free membership) then you are given the option to choose a free gift. *Note* I'm not sure if the options I had are always the same, or if they change them up, so apologies if the frame is no longer there.  Once I got the frame home, I literally just went onto Google Images and searched for the pictures that I liked and printed them off! You may have to search around for a while for images that don't have a watermark or are distorted when you print them off, but this shouldn't take too long. A website that I recommend which did plenty of clear and beautiful images is Design Love Fest . If you head to the "Dress your Tech" section, you can scroll through different...

| DIY | Bringing The Beach In

Firstly, sorry for the lack of posts the past few months. I lost my mojo for a little while, but hopefully I will be getting back on track now!  There's nothing more relaxing than being by the sea. Unfortunately, I live at least an hours drive to the coast, so I have to make the beach come to me!  I've always loved nautical themed interiors- particularly in the bathroom. Luckily mine is predominantly white inside, so it provided me with a lovely blank canvas in which to create my beachy haven.  Of course you can quite easily go overboard (excuse the pun!) with any kind of theme, and it can soon just look messy and let's be honest, a bit naff! If you can still keep it simple, but introduce some nautical touches, you can't go wrong. The main problem with my little bathroom was the lack of storage. I was so sick of cluttering up the edges of my bath with bottles of shampoo and shower gel. We did end up fitting a white floating shelf a while back, but it was bo...

| DIY | IKEA Hacks Inspiration

I took a trip to IKEA on Saturday (which involved my first time on the motorway...long overdue since I passed my test last May!) I wish I had an IKEA closer to home, but such is life!  I just love the affordability of furniture and homeware in IKEA, and everything seems to be built to last- especially the furniture. The main reason I went was to pick up a new chair for the desk in our bedroom. I really  loathe the standard office chair, I think they look so ugly! So I decided I would go for just a dining chair in white to go with the white (and hopefully soon to be) grey theme in the room. I've seen a lot of country interiors featuring the INGOLF chair, and I loved the traditional look of it- perfect for my home.  It wasn't the easiest to put together as my other half discovered, but this was mainly due to us not having invested in power tools yet! After a visit to the DIY expert (aka my Dad) the chair was assembled in no time. Anyway, whilst I was re...
