| DIY | A Rather Crafty Christmas

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love  doing crafts. Christmas is such a good time of year to put your skills to use (and save a few pennies!) whilst having fun at the same time! I really enjoy being able to put my own stamp on something and give Christmas my own personal touch- plus it gets me in the festive mood if I stick a Christmas film on while I'm getting crafty! The first thing I always make during the festive period is orange pomanders. I adore the citrus and spicy smell of oranges and cloves combined. It's a cheap and natural way to scent a room for Christmas, and you can decorate them as you wish to put on display! I have a gold plate which I dig out every year, and I usually pop a church candle in the middle and add pine cones too. This makes a fantastic centrepiece on the dining table. To do these you will need:  4/5 large oranges (depending on the size of your plate) 1/2 pots of whole cloves Optional- pinecones, evergreen foliage, candle S...

| LIFESTYLE | September.

Oh dear I've been meaning to do a new blog post for so long but I just haven't really had the time to do it! Now I've just realised that my last post was 5 months ago... I feel a bit ashamed!  Anyway, this is going to be an extremely long post all about my birthday month, and turning the big 3-0. This will be a long one, so I hope this makes up for my lack of anything recently!  My celebrations started early at the end of August when my other half took me for afternoon tea in the Shard and also on a Jack the Ripper walking tour in London. Our tea was Mary Poppins themed- all the china had Mary Poppins illustrations on them, and our cake stand came complete with a black umbrella on top! We had a fantastic table right by the window which overlooked London Bridge station. It was fascinating being so high up and getting a real bird's eye view of the city below. We really struggled to eat all the afternoon tea as we had stupidly had a large breakfast at London Grin...

| LIFESTYLE | Things I Would Tell My Younger Self

As turning 30 looms in front of me this year, I feel in a bit of a reflective mood. Almost 30 years on this earth and what can I say I have achieved or experienced in that time? I thought back to when I was young and naive at school and in my teens. If I could go back in time and talk to my younger self, what would I say?  Don't worry about what other people think. I spent the majority of my teenage years and even early twenties trying to "keep up with the Jones's". As I've grown older I just don't care about trying to look a certain way or wear a certain brand of makeup simply just to fit in. If people don't like me as a person, that's OK- I'd probably be better off without them anyway! Don't feel like you have to change who you are for anyone. The only person that will end up suffering is yourself. Friends come and go. When you're at school, you get so caught up in a bubble of only socialising with people in your class or year gr...

| LIFESTYLE | Changes...

So one minute you're planning your first blog post of 2018 and writing about all the things you had your eye on to get for your home, and the next minute you're being told that your home is being put up for sale.  Yup, that's my fantastic start to this year. We have just a handful of months left to clear out all our belongings and move elsewhere. This unfortunately, is the harsh reality of renting a property. We've lived in our little flat for getting on 8 years and we have had some fantastic (and also not so fantastic) memories there. We moved in as excited 21 year olds- fresh out of our parent's homes and full of ideas and hopes for the future. We will leave as almost 30 year olds and faced with a completely different living situation.  However, not all of this situation is doom and gloom. We're now making plans to start saving for a deposit on a place of our own. We could have easily rented somewhere else but as many young people who rent know, s...

| LIFESTYLE | My Favourite Season: Autumn

Autumn has rolled around again, and this pleases me greatly. In homage to my favourite season, I’ve listed some of my reasons why I just love this time of year! ©        Those bright sunny mornings but with a chill in the air ©        Chunky knit jumpers and scarves ©        Autumnal colours such as mustard, burnt orange and burgundy ©        Seeing rows of trees all turning different shades of yellow, gold and red ©        Crunching through the mounting piles of fallen leaves on the ground ©        The excitement of seeing pumpkins start to appear in supermarkets ©        Pumpkin picking! ©        Baking fruit pies and crumbles ©        Starting to add cinnamon to drinks or puddings…...
