| DIY | IKEA Hacks Inspiration

I took a trip to IKEA on Saturday (which involved my first time on the motorway...long overdue since I passed my test last May!) I wish I had an IKEA closer to home, but such is life!  I just love the affordability of furniture and homeware in IKEA, and everything seems to be built to last- especially the furniture. The main reason I went was to pick up a new chair for the desk in our bedroom. I really  loathe the standard office chair, I think they look so ugly! So I decided I would go for just a dining chair in white to go with the white (and hopefully soon to be) grey theme in the room. I've seen a lot of country interiors featuring the INGOLF chair, and I loved the traditional look of it- perfect for my home.  It wasn't the easiest to put together as my other half discovered, but this was mainly due to us not having invested in power tools yet! After a visit to the DIY expert (aka my Dad) the chair was assembled in no time. Anyway, whilst I was research

| LIFESTYLE | Our Day in East Sussex

On Tuesday, my partner and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary! To mark the occasion, we decided to have afternoon tea at the Orangery in Ashburnham Place, Battle. I went there last year with my family for Father's Day, and it was so lovely I just had to go back. Ashburnham Place is situated down in a valley surrounded by rolling hills and a huge lake. The actual tearoom is inside a Victorian conservatory, with large floor to ceiling windows, and many varieties of indoor plants.  I loved this Swiss Cheese plant (Monstera Deliciosa) which was growing up the wall- it must have been at least 10 foot heigh! This plant is really popular in tropical themed prints at the moment.  The afternoon tea itself was delicious. The scones were roughly the same size as a saucer (huge!) and you also had a selection of sandwiches and crisps, as well as your choice of tea or coffee of course. The real icing on the cake (excuse the pun) was that you also got to choose a slice of homemade

| LIFESTYLE | The Pros and Cons of Renting

I have been living in a rented flat for almost seven years now, and I really do come to think of it as "home". Sadly, I know that at some stage I will have to be a grown up and think about buying somewhere!  I've tried so hard to make my flat my sanctuary, and I have made some lovely memories there. I thought for people who are maybe looking to move out from their parents, or just weighing up the pros and cons of renting, then this may be of some help to you. 1) IT ISN'T YOURS  Stating the obvious here, all the while you rent your home is never yours.  To be honest, this is one of the only downsides (for me at least) about renting. Some people feel as if you are "throwing your money away" and "you might as well get a wad a £50 notes and burn them". For me, it has proved to be a great way of gaining my own independence (I left home at 21) and finding my feet. I have had A LOT of growing up to do in that time. It also gives you a fee

| HOME | Cheap....Saturdays??

This is a bit of a random post as it isn't my usual Cheap Tuesdays, but if you follow me on Instagram you will know that I was pretty poorly this week so I haven't stuck to my usual schedule. Luckily I feel a lot better now and yesterday I made it my mission to go to Aldi after work and hunt down the much hyped about candle range that is supposed to be a total dupe of the Jo Malone candles. Sadly no such luck on that front! I will make it my mission this month to get my hands on one though!  Anyway, while I was in there I obviously had to scout through the range of homewares and DIY bits and bobs they always have in the middle of the store, and I came across this total beauty of a tea light holder. As you all know, I'm really feeling the geometric vibe at the moment, and it was only £4.99! Absolute bargain! If you are selective (and just happen to be in the store at the right time) then Aldi is great for finding really affordable accessories for your home. The only do

| HOME | The Marble & Copper Craze

As much as I absolutely love my traditionally decorated interiors, I'm really starting to break out of my shell in terms of what I like and what I think compliments an interior.  Unless you have been living with your eyes closed for the past few years, you will know that marble and copper homewares are hugely popular in the interior design world. You only have to search for home decor on Pinterest and Instagram and you will no doubt find images of contemporary-looking living rooms featuring marble topped coffee tables, or copper geometric shaped light shades.  So why is everyone going so crazy for this trend?  When used together, both materials work really well to create an elegant and high-end look. Also, both are great additions to any style of interior, as they are inoffensive in colour and texture, but provide that level of interest into a space. However, if you so wish, copper can add a pop of colour without being too "out there", whilst marble can m

| HOME | Cheap Tuesdays! (07/03/17)

I am all about marble at the moment (to be honest quite obsessed!) and when recently signing up to Urban Outfitters online and making a purchase (which I will probably feature in next weeks Cheap Tuesdays), I was VERY pleased to receive a "new customer" discount code for 10% off and free delivery on your next order. Of course I had to make the most out of that offer, so I headed back over to their website and found this absolute beauty of a candle. As I mentioned in my previous post, I am slowly doing up my flat, and my next project is the bedroom. I have bought a new bed frame, and plan to re-paint, and I want it to feature a lot of grey and white to make it a calm environment. This white marble candle will be the perfect addition. Also once the candle has completely burnt out, it would make such a lovely container as it also has a lid!  The candle is currently on sale at £12.60 (originally £18.00) but with my discount code I got it for £11.34 - what a bargain! If you l

| HOME | A Peek Into My Home

This week I thought I would give you a little peek into my own home, so that you can get an idea of what kind of styles I'm into- and maybe just be a bit nosey!  I currently rent a one bedroom flat with my fiancĂ© which we have been living in for almost seven years now. The flat has definitely seem some changes over the years. We initially did everything on the cheap with all our furniture...Littlewoods and Argos became our best friends! I tried to keep the space quite neutral, which luckily has turned out for the best and I haven't got bored of the colour palette - yet! What's good about keeping everything neutral, is that if you use cushions to add a pop of colour, you can quite easily swap them for another colour if you fancy a change.  We have slowly upgraded most of the furniture over the years and re-painted, and I am really happy with how my living room especially looks now.  Here are a couple of photos of my favourite things in the flat.  This
